HOW TO MAKE THOUSANDS DOING NOTHING AT ALL
Keep in mind that everything stated below is 100% legal as stated by the U.S. Post Office (1-800-725-2161).
A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups, just like you are now, and came across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands of dollars within weeks with only an initial investment of $6.00! : So I thought,' Yeah, right, this must be a scam', but like most of us, I was curious, so I kept reading. Anway it said that you have to send $1.00 to each of the following names on the list, stated at the end of this article using Paypal (our new form of transferring money safely and securely). You dont have to be preferred or verified to transfer and recieve money, so you lose no money through transfers. Now honestly, what is six dollars, especially out of a Paypal account. In exchange you will make thousands in the first few months. You then place your own name and email address (registered for Paypal transfers) in the bottom of the list at #6, and post the article in at least 200 newsgroups. (There are thousands of newsgroups) No catch, that was it. So after thinking it over, and talking to a few people first, I thought about trying it. I sent out my measly 6.00 to the six people on the list. Well GUESS WHAT!!... Within 7 days, I started: getting $$$$$ in my account! I was shocked! I figured it would end soon, but the CASH just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about $25.00. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over $1,000.00! In the third week I had over $15,060.00 and it's still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over $26,000.00 and it's still coming in rapidly. It's certainly worth $6.00 and 6 minutes to send it out. This program WORKS, all you have to do is try it, and waste some pocket change. You could find six dollars laying around the house. There is absolutely nothing you could lose. Just follow the 4 basic steps below to make thousands in just a few days, weeks, or months, it all depends on how many posts of this letter you put in message boards.
Heres how it works:
When you post 200 messages all over the internet, it is estimated that at least 15 people will respond and send you a $1.00. ($15.00) Those 15 will Post 200 Posts each and 225 people send you $1.00 ($225.00) Those 225 people Post 200 Posts each and 3,375 people send you $1.00 ($3,375.00) Those 3,375 post 200 posts each and 759,375 people send you $1.00 ($759,375.00) At this point your name drops off the list, but so far you have received $813,615.00. Note: I'm not saying this is going to make everyone 800 grand, but lets say even 1 person out of 200 tries this program, you are still going to make 50,000 dollars in anywhere from 1 month to 6 months max!!!!!
SO SAVE THIS MESSAGE NOW IF YOUR INTERESTED IN CHANGING YOUR LIFE!!! And go to the instructions below to get started immediately. You must send out 6 dollars to the people at the end of the letter before swapping your name in, or else those 6 people will not add you to there list, therefore you will not make any money.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Immediately send $1.00 to each of the six people on the list using Paypal, and in the comment section type "Please add me to your list". Here are the emails that you transfer the money into:
2. Now Copy this letter. All you have to do is save this whole article along with instructions, etc in a word file/note pad on your computer.
3. After sending the money to the first 6 people on the list, you can remove the name next to the #1 on the list and move the rest of the names up one position (#2 becomes #1, #3 becomes #2, etc?) Then place your name in the #6 position. Then save it.
4. When you have completed the instructions, take this letter and then go to (Google, Yahoo,...) and type in (Making Money Message board, Money Message Board, Money Forum, Free money Forum, or anything along those lines that are forums) and start posting your copy of this message at lease 200 times, to as many unique message boards as you can, or more. The more times you post this at a unique board, the more money you will make. The more copies you send the better the results. Keep a copy of this letter so you can use it a second time. Post it out again in six months, but Post it with the addresses you receive with each dollar. It will work better the second time. NOTE: This service is 100% legal - (Refer to title 18 section 1302 of the U.S. Postal & lottery laws)
P.S. There is no possible way to cheat this program. If you do not follow the instructions exactly, you will not make any money, GUARANTEED.
Paypal accounts to send 1 dollar to :
#1) lindsey4@5starmail.com
#2) vidguy_me@hotmail.com
#3) laxmom7@optonline.net
#4) stsims317@aol.com
#5) lucasginette@hotmail.com
#6) bdf16@hotmail.com
REMEMBER AGAIN- After you've mailed 1 dollar to each of these people, then you can add your paypal name to the 6th position, and move the rest up one spot.

Hello Jerri and All,
There is a guest forum so we can receive comments and criticism. We appreciate the positive and take seriously the negative.
In a previous post I addressed the post race shortages at both the finish line and upstairs in the Convention Center so I won't repeat them here.
For the on-course conditions, we plan an urban marathon in a very small city and try our best to carve out a course that will not be difficult, unfortunately their are included not very scenic sections of the city. The alternative courses would be extemely difficult because of the hills surrounding the city in all directions. We will consider alternatives in future planning.
As for the finish line timing, we timed every finsher through three and a half hours as was promised in race materials. The timing company mistakenly thought the limit was three hours. I was personally on hand when the began dismantling the equipment and told them of the correct cutoff time. As is, there were only eight finishers after three hours and we would have been certain that they would have had an official time even if all of the equipment was dismantled, which wasn't the case. The haste to clear the street is dictated by the police, who want the street reopened as soon as possible.
There was a doctor available and medical facilities open in the convention center after three and a half hours with water and gatorade available.
Although we do everything we can to restrict traffic and protedt runners we cannot close streets down and we cannot predict what drivers of cars or buses will do. We had numerous volunteers and over 30 police on course to try to safeguard competitors.
As for the issue of walkers, we do not have a walker's division because we cannot assure keeping the course open and safe for a period longer than three hours and as the interval between runners or walkers increases the more chance there is for mishaps by drivers who do not know what is going on.
All aspects of the race will be reconsidered and all comments and criticism will be taken seriously should the race go forward.

Post Race Comment / CONCERNS
Let me start by saying I did enjoy the race, however...I have worked at many many races in the Nashville area and have traveled to different parts of the country to run in races. This is only our experience and what happened to us, in hopes that it might help in future races.
Three of us traveled from Nashville to run your race. I'm a middle of the pack runner, one is a walk /runner and the last one is strickly a walker, this was her first 1/2 marathon event.
While running, I always knew where the turns were because I was with a pack of runners, but not shutting down the streets was Extremly dangerous for other runners as well as myself. I was 10 feet from being hit by a bus in the last mile! I had hopped up on the sidewalk to get out of the traffic and when I stepped off the sidewalk a tour bus was less than 10 feet from hitting me...I almost lost my balance from trying to stop.
The course over all should have been shut down. After the first half I never saw a policeman. We did run through a very rough part of town. Here again, I was always around runners and didn't worry, but the walkers I came with were worried about their saftey.
Running in a bike lane with slanted streets and drainage grates wasn't the most pleasant.
As I stated in the beginning, I have worked many races and I do understand about the sports drink issue, but in the concern of the health of others it should have been offered at least every 2-3 miles.
At mile 9 a very young runner had passed out and he was less than 50 feet from a water station...luckly someone saw him before me and had told the water station and they were getting help.
At the finish, I had developed leg cramps and was in dire need of something to drink (other than water). I went to the 3rd floor (and as others in this forum as mentioned) there was nothing left but the ice the drinks were sitting in. No muffins and the fruit that was left, left a lot to be desired. I then went back downstairs and had to go to the radio stations tent and ask them for water (that they got out of their van for me). Your bib number should have been your entry to get food/drinks upstairs to keep the other people out.
In finishing: The course was to be open for 3 1/2 hours. Straight up at 11:00 (only 3 hours after the start) the chip officials started breaking down, the clock was being taken down, the medical station including the beds were being taken down and there was 9 people in line waiting to be helped (one of which was myself and I had gotten in and out of line 3 times).
My friend still had less than 1.5 miles to go when all the breaking down was taking place...and 30 minutes left till the event was to be over. They couldn't wait 10-15 minutes? No, she wasn't fast. No, she wasn't a runner. But what she was, was a patron who had paid her money, made the decision to come to Providence and attempt her first 1/2 marathon. She deserved the same rights as all the others. The officials knew that the ambulance was behind the last of the participants and they should have phoned in telling the finish line where they were.
In comment about the volunteers: Whether all they are getting is a t-shirt for their work or getting nothing...they should have to work till the work is done or switch out volunteers. Wheather the Nashville Striders put on a 5K or a 1/2 marathon we have volunteers that get points each time they volunteer and can run races free once they acquire a certain amount of points. When we put on a 1/2 marathon we are on site at 4:00 in the morning and usually still working, cleaning up and finishing up well into the afternoon...that's just part of it.
Photos: I also understood that no photo opportunities were going to be available. I've heard, the "Brightroom.com" photographers heard about the race and took it upon themselves to take photos. Therefore, there was not info in the packets and very few people knew about it.
Yes, I had a good time and would do the race again, given the opportunity. The course was good and the people were friendly and the views (other than rough spots) were great...just wish we could have run through the Italian district.
I have NEVER spoke my mind on a forum till this one, but I have a lot of concerns for runners and their safety.
Thank you for continuing this race and good luck in the future.

Please say you'll keep it up for 2005. Half marathons are awesome. I would have to agree though if possible to incorporate the EastSide/Blackstone Blvd. and eliminate Broad Street/Allens avenue, great support along the way but, Uuugh!, no scenery.

Thanks Race Organizers
This was my first half marathon although I ran 3 marathons last year (my first in October '03 in Chicago). At age 57, I feel pretty good about that and thrilled with my run on Sunday since I ran under my time goal. I didn't have any problems with the course, though I agree with a previous writer about the litter (especially the broken glass!) in one of the areas- not familiar enough with Providence to know where it was. As I have run and trained with only water to drink, I was glad that there wasn't any power ade or gator ade---no stickiness on the pavement! The flag people and other volunteers were very good and also encouraging which, when the spectators/fans were few and far between, was a motivator. Many thanks to all who helped put this together. I can only imagine the hours it takes to plan, coordinate, and execute a race- probably as difficult if not more so than a major marathon where there are many, many sponsors and volunteers and the whole city is behind in the efforts. Free and ample parking in the government lots close to the start line was much appreciated. Thanks to all sponsors and volunteers for your successful first half marathon. I hope you'll do it again.

A Few Suggestions
General a good job for the first run... thanks to all the volunteers and organizers! I do have a few suggestions that should be addressed in a future race:
1. Course control - too many uncontrolled intersections! A combination of an urban run with many intersections and not enough volunteers. There was no control on least one or two signalized intersections plus other intersections with minimal sight distance. Fortunately no problems but also was always on the lookout for cars darting out.
2. Course Width - in many places I felt the course was too narrow... a bike lane or shoulder width is not enough! I was in the top 10% of the pack with a lower density of runners but still a problem in spots. Probably a lot worse in the middle of the pack.
3. Course Scenery - Agree with previous post to include some of the nicer sections of Providence along the route such as Roger Williams Park or as in the OCM route along India Point and Blackstone Blvd.

So glad that I picked your race
I was scheduled to run a challenging 10K in Camptown, Pa a few weeks ago when I found out that I would be out of town that weekend. And so rather than just pick another 10K I decided to run my first 1/2 marathon for an even greater challenge. In fact I have only trained at 6-7 miles, 3X a week. In the last few weeks I did have the chance to run a little farther a few times and thought that I "was ready". Well, I'm glad that I picked your race because it was flat, everyone was friendly and there were a lot of support people to keep things organized. I have to admit that 13 miles is a lot farther than I'd imagined, but I finished and I did it without walking or injury. I would love to come back next year and be better prepared. Maybe even train for a marathon! I guess this is how it all begins...meanwhile I'm glad that my first time was your race. Thank you so much to everyone who was so kind and so helpful! I appreciate everyone who was there to make it all go so smoothly (you could have used your weekend for yourself, but gave to us). And thank you to the behind the scenes folks who spent the last year planning and putting the race together. Your thoughtfulness and organization left us with only one thing to think about...running! I loved it!

The race was fine. The police support and flaggers were friendly and I tried to thank each of them. Great to see a lot of support from TNTers. Do you know if there will be more photos available? number pickup
To All,
Given the situation on race morning, with a time window of 6:30 to 7:45, it is nearly impossible for any number of volunteers to keep up with the flow of runners wanting to get their numbers, chips and packets in a timely, orderly fashion. The reason we have six hours of registration and packet pickup on the day before the race is to alleviate congestion on race day. And, our field of runners was not top heavy in terms of out of area runners. So, many of those who might have waited in line, become frustrated, angry and critical could have taken a few moments to pick up their gear on Saturday or, as many, many did have someone pick it up for them.
Again, I suppose there's very little we did right and that is truly a shame, because a lot of people who you will never know worked very, very hard to make their work a benefit to your effort.

comments addressed
To everyone:
We appreciate your efforts and applaud your accomplishments. We are runners, we try to do the best for every runner in the field, from first to last. However, there are many factors that are pretty much out of our control and factors of human nature. People taking water, food and drink that should go to those who deserve it, the finishers. Oh! yes we could ask our volunteers, who work long and hard for a t-shirt, to also be policemen and stop people from taking what they are not entitled to or more than they should take, but would you want to be in that position.
And then, of course we could buy, beg, borrow or steal enough from unknown sources to cover the shrinkage. That's fairly easy.
Yes, we had difficulties keeping up with the unanticipated demands on the system and we take responsibility for it and we did everything we could to overcome the deficits. In truth, the gap for lack of water at the finish line was about 15 minutes and took place after 2 hours into the event.
We regret the situation and will address it if the event goes forward.
Additionally, we are certainly in the cyberage of instant gratifiacation when people leave a race and expect their results to be posted on the web site within an hour or two of their personal finish. What about the other finishers behind them, ought we piece the results a hundred at a time and have runners e-mail us because we are unable to keep up with the flow of the race so that you can get to your laptop in the parking lot and get your "official" result that could be in error because something in the system was wrong or misplaced? Then we would be taken to task for the errors.
The results were up on coolrunning.com before our web site because they had the capabilities to quickly post them.
We posted the results to our site as soon as we could after doing all the other essentials to closing out the race. We were not sitting around on our hands.
If the race was a total disappointment to any entrant please contact us and we will refund your entry fee.

Congrats and suggestions
Hi, I wanted to also add my congrats to the runners. Just a couple of additions to suggestions for next year.
1) Pick up: Difficult manuvering to the different lines because of all the ballroom tables that were just plopped down. Would be great to move round ballroom tables out of the way in advance to allow for easier line access. Also the posting of the various line rows (1-300, 301-499, etc...) would be easier to see if placed on the wall behind the pick up ABOVE the heads of volunteers. Simply couldn't see what row I was to get into. And finally, (and it was probably not enough volunteers, having the pickup envelopes already packed with chip, number and what ever marketing stuff in advance would have helped moved the process along.
2) Food. Did finally find it yes, but I was rather disappointed that, while finishing halfway decently, all the drinks were gone. For the fairness of all, keeping one drink to one runner, and allow only the participating runners (not the supportive family members and friends we all appreciate) to have access to the food and drink would be a better way to fairly insure that the more participating runners have a chance to hydrate themselves.

Fun Race
This race was good for it's first try. The water stops were ample, the miles were marked, and post race refreshments were fine. My only suggestions to make it better would be:
1) Have it go through the East Side instead of South Providence. The litter was awful. Ugly run. East Side would be better promotion for the half-marathon and Providence.
2) Have the start and finish in the same place.
3) Have some fruit and other carbs at the finish line. Also, clear directions to the food
(located way up on the 3rd floor).
Other than that, great race. Nice inaugural event. Good job. Thank you police and volunteers.

Race in Review
It's nice to be home at 10:30 in the morning and have another half under my belt. The race was great,it went off on time, plenty of Porta-Potties,number pick-up was fast, cource was a little hilly as promised but not too bad.I don't know about post race refreshments as I did not see any nor did I see any runners with anything.Where were they?

number pick-up
Can you have a friend pick up your number or does each person have to pick up their number in person?

stop whinning about the sports drink
My first 1/2 marathon. However, I'm training for a full and up to 18 miles a run. Water and a couple of GU's are fine. So I agree with David. Come for the fun and stop worring about the Gatorade!

Water versus Sports Drinks
The fact is that proper hydration is the most important item. Carb/Sugar replacement (aka Gatorade) is helpful but not a requirement. Most European marathons supply sugar cubes, fruit, and water but no sports drinks. So if you think no sports drinks is a liability (which it isn't)picture this...Paris Marathon 2004, 35,000 runners, only 8 aid stations over 26.2 miles and the last two were out of water for runners that were at a 4:30-5:00 pace. Talk about a liability. Water should be just fine (but bring some GU just in case)

weather/numbers
Chris and All,
Weather looks great, cooler and sunny. As of this morning we are just over 1200 and expect another 100 or so in the next day or so, but there's no way to know what the post registration will be.

Can't Wait
Looks like its going to be very nice weather-wise on Sunday! I think this may also help in the area of fluid replacement, it would be nice to have a sports drink available, but under two-hour runners should be fine with just water. Am looking forward to the race, and to the Hartford Marathon in two-weeks!
How many folks are registered by the way? Is there going to be a good crowd?!

Re: solution
Actually, my hydration technique includes 6-8 oz. of 1/2 water and 1/2 sports drink mixture every 2 miles.
I am not worried about what/when to drink - I know what works for me. I am merely saying I find it odd that nothing is provided, knowing that people need it. I have run many half marathons and have never participated in a race that did not provide the proper fluid/electrolyte replacements. It seems like a liability.

solution
Try to run with a sports bottle. One that is attached to yout belt should give you enough sports drink to get you through the race. You would not want to drink "gatorade" at every stop your stomach couldn't handle it, try to incorporate both h2o and juice, and possibly a spots bar to eat. That should do it.
